ich und die welt
What influences us or the idea of who we are? What is the difference between me and the others? Why do we have this natural desire for demarcation? Why do we need a border as a grid of orientation for our identity and our place in society? Where are the borders?
The exhibition "ich und die welt" discovers the tension between the different ways how we are seen from the outside and how we see ourselves. The main point of the concept is dealing with our traditional idea of a border as a static element and realizing that the personal border is an amorphous structure, which is in constant exchange with our surroundings. On the one hand the exhibition
deals with the topic of building an identity and particularly with the reason why human beings need borders for their orientation. On the other hand the spectator should be animated to reconsider his identity.
